An introductory task engaging students in conducting information gathering and study on a selected material (building or finishes). Thorough findings about the material is required whereby students need to explore and analyze the characteristics of the material; conduct experiments if necessary in order to fully understand its characteristics in depth. Chose an inspiring architect who uses the raw materials at its best or experiments with the material to take a new form in their Architecture or Interior Design work. Keywords findings are vital in identifying design elements and characters of the composition using basic design principles (line, volume, etc). The outcome of the finding will be presenting in an interactive wall display as a method of submission.

Through this project I had the opportunity to explore the various and wide range of types of textile materials and their properties. In order to find the most suitable material for my model, it was important to understand the texture, colour, flexibility, strength, elasticity, transparency of the material. This is to ensure that the model delivers the mood and meaning that I intend to convey to the viewers. Both the coffee and the dessert that were chosen for this project are composed with the infusion of lavender . This purple coloured herb is represented by the petals created using purple voile fabric, which has become the main element of the design. The characteristics of the fabric perfectly represents the elegance and soothingness of both the coffee and the dessert served. Physical affects of purple on us; uplifts, calms the mind and nerves, offers a sense of spirituality, and encourages creativity. It is considered a cool colour in design. It helps to make a small space feel larger.
